What is modal?
Modal is a naturally occurring fiber obtained by spinning wood cellulose fibers (often beech). As such, it is a type of viscose.
Modal can be used alone, or combined with other fibers (often cotton and/or elastane).
It is approximately 50% more hygroscopic than cotton, at equal volume. Textiles made from or containing modal can remain supple and soft even after several washes. Solid deposits from hard water cannot cling to it. In addition, it resists shrinkage.
